South Korean telecoms company KT is using 5G self-driving carts at its logistics center to make operations more efficient.
The autonomous carts move smartphones and other devices at KT’s Seobu Distribution Center, and have reduced employee travel range for loading and transporting inventory by almost 50%.
Two types of carts, NarGo and TarGo, are being used in collaboration with Twinny, a company specializing in indoor autonomous robots and online platforms.
KT is combining its autonomous intelligent vehicle (AIV) service with the carts so they can process instructions and assess operating conditions using pre-installed maps and real-time information.
Choi Kangrim, head of KT Connected Car Biz Center, said, “By applying AIV service based on our advanced communication networks and platforms in a wider scope of industries and leading relevant technological advancement, we at KT will do our utmost to help our customers enjoy the benefits in their everyday lives.”
