Innoviz Technologies, a supplier of automotive-grade lidar sensors and perception software, has announced a collaboration with a major automotive OEM to enhance its Level 4 (L4) autonomous vehicle (AV) capabilities.
The partnership will incorporate Innoviz’s new short-range lidar sensors into the OEM’s L4 autonomous driving platform. The companies anticipate a series production nomination in the coming months, contingent on the finalization of commercial terms.
The new short-range lidar joins the InnovizTwo product platform, alongside the InnovizTwo Long-Range and InnovizTwo Slim. The lidar also uses high-resolution detection and a vertical field of view exceeding 90°, and is designed for application in light commercial vehicles, shuttles, robotaxis and trucks.
Developed across the past six months, the lidar was engineered to meet the request for quotation (RFQ) requirements set by the OEM, the company says. The OEM plans to integrate multiple short-range lidar sensors into each of its L4 AVs, to enhance safety and performance in autonomous driving applications.
“This is an exciting moment for Innoviz as we collaborate with a major global OEM on a new product,” said Omer Keilaf, CEO and co-founder of Innoviz. “As the L4 market is starting to ramp up, we are happy to be able to provide a complete set of solutions to meet the needs of OEMs worldwide and support the acceleration of AV adoption across all sectors.”
