Ioki, a European digital mobility technology company, has been selected as the software partner for an autonomous driving pilot project in Switzerland.
Together with the project partners, the Canton of Zurich, SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) and the Swiss Transit Lab, ioki is working toward improving mobility in rural areas and strengthening connections to public transportation.
AVs will operate from spring 2025 in the Furttal region of the canton of Zurich, ferrying passengers to their destination. Nissan Ariya vehicles, equipped with WeRide’s automated driving technology, can be booked via a dedicated app developed by ioki, which will also provide the on-demand software for booking and route planning.
Ioki’s software calculates the most efficient routes for the autonomous vehicles based on factors such as demand and vehicle location. The digital booking of the autonomous vehicles, is also managed through the Ioki app.
Michael Barillère-Scholz, CEO at Ioki, said, “We are delighted to be part of this forward-looking project. With our on-demand technology, we are making a significant contribution to improving mobility in rural areas. The development of future mobility concepts is crucial for driving the digital and sustainable transformation of public transport.”
