Vietnamese EV manufacturer VinFast has introduced an innovative location technology – what3words. The new feature that enhances the precision of navigation systems will debut in the VF 8.
With this addition, a VF 8 driver can assign a route using the infotainment system by entering a traditional postcode or street name address, or a precise what3words location. According to VinFast, street addresses lack precision with postcodes covering large areas and making it difficult for drivers to navigate to specific locations. what3words addresses this issue as it assigns a unique combination of three words to a location.
The geocode system has divided the globe into a grid of 3m x 3m squares, enabling people to easily convey locations as specific as building entrances and parking spots. It provides easy location references in places with no street addresses, such as beaches, national parks and viewpoints.
The integration of what3words further enhances this capability by enabling precise directions to the most hard-to-find destinations. what3words navigation has wide-ranging benefits as it is rapidly gaining in popularity and is currently available in over 60 languages.
