Six SMEs have secured up to £100,000 (US$131,000) in grant funding from the 2024 CAM Scale-Up UK program, delivered by Zenzic. These businesses aim to help the UK become a leader in the development and deployment of connected and automated mobility (CAM) solutions.
The latest group is the fifth cohort of SMEs supporting exciting transportation innovations including disability wheelchair access on public buses, and driver fatigue and safety monitoring. The companies are Blueskeye AI, Deontic UK, Maaind, Moonbility, Opteran and Saif Systems.
Since 2020, the CAM Scale-Up has supported 22 SMEs with funding. The technology developed includes the world’s first pothole-fixing robot, self-driving passenger and freight vehicles, and advanced radar and safety solutions enabling vehicles to navigate extreme weather.
With support from the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV) and Plug and Play, the program enables startups and SMEs to test their products at CAM Testbed UK facilities, thereby significantly accelerating their introduction to market.
Mark Cracknell, program director at Zenzic, said, “CAM Scale-Up UK is not just about providing funding to businesses and leaving them to fend for themselves, it’s very much a wrap-around support program that provides those successful with everything they need to truly realize their potential.”
