Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPeng has released images of its latest EV, the P7+, which features camera-based self-driving technology. The company says the new model marks a transition from its previous reliance on lidar sensors to a pure vision system.
The P7+ is anticipated to be an upgrade from XPeng’s debut model, incorporating several advanced features. The shift to camera-based technology represents a significant development in XPeng’s approach to autonomous driving.
XPeng’s CEO, He Xiaopeng, introduced the P7+ on Weibo – a social media platform in China – sharing photos and initial details about the vehicle. The P7+ is over five meters in length and includes a system referred to as ‘technology+’, likely indicating the new camera-based system. The P7+ will feature XPeng’s flagship software, known for its advanced capabilities in self-driving technology.
The full specifications and features of the P7+ will be unveiled when the car officially launches in Q4 2024.
