Grupo Antolin, a manufacturer of interior components for the automotive industry, has launched the second edition of its vehicle interior Design Challenge – a student competition tasked with imagining the vehicle interior of the future.
Applicants have until June 2020 to present their innovative designs that integrate future technologies, as well as solutions for lighting, smart surfaces and new materials. In addition, their designs should take into account aspects such as passenger comfort, cost, weight, safety standards and market trends.
Award-winning projects must be designed to add value to the interior of electric, self-driving connected cars in the year 2025.
The competition is divided into three categories (Smart Headliner, Smart Door Panel and Smart Cockpit) – the winners of which will receive a prize of €3,000 (US$3,295). There will also be a special mention prize in ‘Color and Trim’ where the winner will receive prize money of €1,000 (US$1,100). Participants can submit their proposals to one or several categories.
Inaugural competition
The first edition of the Design Challenge was launched in 2017 and attracted a large number of participants. The awards went to four students from prestigious design schools and universities in the USA, UK, France and Spain.
