Advanced autonomous driving and connectivity functions are the most appealing features for electric vehicle purchasers in China, according to Xpeng Motors’ Smart Car Operation in Review 2019.
Adaptive Cruise Control was the most popular autonomous function for Xpeng G3 customers, being activated 3,640,000 times in 2019 and being driven independently for 6,590,000km.
Lane Change Control was also popular; it was activated 1,240,000 times in 2019 and driven for 4,110,000km.
Inside the car, voice assistant was used 9,380,000 times, initiating auto navigation over three million times in 2019.
He Xiaopeng, CEO and chairman of Xpeng Motors, said, “We are very encouraged by the growing customer enthusiasm toward features that are more than what a conventional electric vehicle does. The data shows us customers in China are keen to experience a more leisurely style of driving, and see their vehicles as more than just a transportation machine to bring them from A to B.”
The operation and data report also found that 92% of Xpeng customers prefer the Premium and Smart versions of the G3, which can perform XPILOT2.5 autonomous driving functions despite the extra cost over the Core version.
