Ford has upgraded its Lane-Keeping Aid system with Road Edge Detection to make driving on rural roads easier and safer.
It is designed for rural roads with speeds of 45-70mph (70-110kmh), using cameras below the rear-view mirror to monitor road edges 50m (165ft) in front and 7m (23ft) to the side of the vehicle. The system provides steering support to prevent the vehicle from drifting off the carriageway. Algorithms study the road and can provide steering support on marked roads when the lane marking is obscured or hidden by snow, leaves or rain.
Road Edge Detection is standard on the Focus, Kuga and Puma models as part of Lane-Keeping Aid, and will be expanded across the range.
