Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is working with AutoX to introduce self-driving taxis throughout China in the first half of this year.
AutoX AI Driver has been integrated into an FCA Chrysler Pacifica, with the first large-scale robotaxi pilots being deployed in cities including Shenzhen and Shanghai later this year.
The AI Driver-equipped Chrysler Pacific was released at CES 2020, offering a flat rooftop design, integrating sensors including solid state lidar, radars, cameras, GPS, IMU and AutoX XCU, the first Level-4 platform for Chinese road and traffic conditions.
Jianxiong Xiao, founder and CEO of AutoX, said AI Driver is the most experienced driver for China’s unique traffic.
Xiao, also known as Professor X, said, “With tons of real-world data we have collected in the past few years, the AutoX Driver has adopted local driving styles in China to navigate in complex and dynamic urban conditions. We are proud to start deploying our technology and get a headstart on the greatest opportunity of the industry — the mobility transformation in China.”
