With a pre-sale price range of US$38,000-US$52,000, the Xpeng Motors P7 sports sedan will come loaded with advanced driver assistance and automated driving technologies. At Auto Guangzhou 2019, the Chinese OEM announced that the P7 EV, which it claims will have 650km+ of NEDC driving range, will be available in five versions. It has already received more than 15,000 pre-orders for the car.
The P7’s advanced features include smart electric platform architecture with Nvidia Drive Xavier, Nvidia’s most advanced autonomous vehicle chip, and Qualcomm’s “top-line” vehicle processor. The vehicle boasts 12 ultrasonic sensors, five Bosch fifth-generation millimeter-wave radars, 13 autonomous driving cameras and an in-car camera with HD mapping and high-precision positioning. The standard XPILOT 3.0 ADAS is upgradable to XPILOT 4.0.
The chassis has been jointly developed with Porsche Engineering; “tuned by top-notch German and Chinese professional teams”, according to Xpeng. The P7 is said to be the first car in China to adopt top-line data security hardware and also features a smart cockpit with a lightweight, full-width instrument panel, a claimed concert hall-quality sound system and luxurious upholstery and detailing.
Xpeng recently raised US$400m in its Series C fundraising, introducing Xiaomi Corporation as a new strategic investor. P7 customer deliveries in China are expected to start in Q2 2020.
