Ficosa has introduced new C-V2X connected technology solutions for the automotive sector, which will help pave the way toward the driverless car.
The company, which develops and researches vision, safety and connectivity systems for the automotive market, unveiled its Bitax telematics platform, a hybrid solution that allows for the integration short-range communication over wi-fi technology (DCRC) and cellular technology.
At the recent Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, Ficosa demonstrated three use cases of a 5G connected vehicle with C-V2X technology.
Specifically, the three assisted-driving use cases that are shown on the streets of Barcelona and Hospitalet de Llobregat (around the Mobile World Congress fairgrounds) included being able to detect a pedestrian in a zebra crossing where the traffic light will use a thermal camera to detect a pedestrian in the crossing and warn the vehicles; detecting a cyclist where the connected cycle equipped with a high-precision geolocation solution communicates with cars around it to report its location; and detecting a car stopped on the road with low visibility, and automatically warning approaching vehicles with a message on the control panel.
