Lidar data processing expert Dibotics and AGC Automotive, creator of integrated infrared (IR)-transparent glass, have realised an in-vehicle lidar solution.
Integration within the vehicle means the lidar sensor does not need extensive sealing, and its aperture is kept clear in all conditions. The companies say lidar is completely effective in a high mounting position, providing long-range vision.
The lidar sensors are hidden behind the IR glass windshield and/or behind IR glass trims. AGC Automotive and Dibotics will work with every type of lidar sensor.
AGC Automotive has a dedicated entity for autonomous vehicles and lidar integration: Wideye. “The ecosystem of autonomous vehicles deserves all our attention and a dedicated service to face new challenges,” said Michel Meyers, mobility business development office director at AGC Automotive Europe. “Automotive IR-transparent glass and lidar integration with Dibotics are a real breakthrough.”
“As a leader in real-time processing of lidar data, hearing that something is not possible with lidar motivates us to push even further and open new possibilities,” said Raul Bravo, CEO and co-founder of Dibotics. “We found the same innovation spirit in the AGC Automotive and Wideye teams and we’re delighted to have contributed to this major breakthrough for autonomous driving. We’re sure that lidar manufacturers, OEMs and Tier 1s will highly appreciate the potential of this innovation.”
