Outrider has partnered with Segments.ai to advance its perception models for self-driving trucks through precise, multi-sensor data annotation.
Outrider develops software and technology to automate EV yard trucks that can hitch tractors and trailers and maneuver between dock doors and parking spots. In October 2024, Outrider announced US$62m in series D funding to expand its autonomous truck services within distribution yards, catering to customers in e-commerce, manufacturing and various other industries.
However, with data from multiple cameras and lidars, Outrider needed a labeling platform and a flexible annotation workforce to handle the complexity and scale of its data setup. With Segments.ai’s tooling and partnered Africa.ai workforce, Outrider’s perception team can now build 2D and 3D ground truth perception and mapping data, leveraging advanced 2D and 3D vector and segmentation interfaces, projection features and model-assisted labeling workflows.
This partnership enables Outrider to scale its labeling processes efficiently, ensuring its self-driving technology can accurately navigate dynamic yards, supporting safer and more efficient autonomous operations.
