Autonomous technology company Nuro, which has previously focused on urban last-mile logistics, has announced the expansion of its business model to incorporate its AI-driven autonomy platform, the Nuro Driver.
The new platform will support Level 4 passenger vehicles and goods delivery. Powered by Nvidia Drive Thor, the Nuro Driver is an autonomous driving system with Arm Neoverse technology. This combines automotive hardware with AI self-driving software to enable up to L4 autonomy. Nuro is also debuting the Nuro AI Platform, comprising scalable developer tools to support AI development and validation.
Nuro has completed more than one million autonomous miles across its fleet of R&D vehicles with zero autonomous at-fault incidents. “It’s not a question of if, but when L4 autonomy will become widespread,” said Jiajun Zhu, co-founder and CEO at Nuro. “We believe Nuro is positioned to be a major contributor to this autonomous future where people and goods mobility are free-flowing, representing a significant increase in the quality of life for everyone.”
Nuro’s Driver leverages advanced AI across its autonomy stack, allowing it to navigate urban and highway environments while prioritizing safety by deploying redundant systems and a parallel autonomy stack. OEMs can benefit from Nuro’s licensing model, which allows access to a commercially independent, road-proven platform, accelerating AV development and deployment timelines.
