As part of its NeoRoads initiative, Openvia Mobility, Globalvia’s technology platform, is to collaborate with technology group GMV to focus on creating connected, safe and sustainable roads.
The companies will explore and develop solutions for connected road use cases using V2X communications technology, particularly the 5G-V2X cellular-based connectivity technology. The NeoRoads initiative seeks to provide road operators with a comprehensive package of services and technologies to digitalize infrastructure, improve operations and maintenance, and adapt to evolving traffic needs.
GMV will focus on using C-V2X communications and other intelligent transportation system (ITS) elements to develop use cases related to road safety and operational efficiency, including cooperative maneuvers between vehicles and infrastructure.
Fernando Vallejo Lázaro, managing director of Openvia Mobility, said, “We firmly believe that this alliance with GMV will open the door for us to make great strides in our connected and smart roads, which will translate into real use cases that will have an impact on our users and society at large.”
