Smart EV manufacturer Xpeng has officially launched the G6 Ultra Smart Coupe SUV in China. It is the OEM’s first vehicle built on its next-generation technology architecture – SEPA2.0.
The G6 features what Xpeng claims as “the industry’s only mass-produced full-scenario ADAS”, XNGP, powered by BEV and transformer-based deep visual neural network, XNet. The EV benefits from a total of 31 sensors, two lidars and a computing power of up to 508 TOPS delivered by dual Nvidia Drive Orin X chips. The suite of technology enables the SUV to visualize panoramic road conditions in real time in addition to carrying out an array of driving maneuvers, including starting the vehicle or parking it at the destination – regardless of the vehicle’s high-definition map coverage availability.
The G6 also features Xpeng’s new-generation Highway NGP, City NGP and a VPA-L memory-based parking function which enables end-to-end assisted driving during normal driving scenarios. In Q4 of 2023, the OEM will offer AI Valet Driver capabilities to all owners of Xpeng vehicles equipped with XNGP in China.
The G6’s body design – developed in collaboration with sci-fi writer Liu Cixin – features a suspended roof and a 2,890mm wheelbase to provide occupants with a significant amount of headroom and space within the rear of the cabin.
An upgraded smart in-car operating system also features in the form of Xmart OS 4.0, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P chipset. Within the cabin, a 14.96in touchscreen display delivers intuitive human-machine interaction, while full-scenario voice assistant 2.0 provides real-time continuous voice command recognition, multizone dialogs and offline interaction.
“Xpeng G6 embodies our unwavering commitment to technology innovation and reaffirms our mission to lead the mobility transformation,” said He Xiaopeng, chairman and CEO of Xpeng. “We believe that our forward-looking technology roadmap and vision for making innovative technology accessible to the mass market firmly position Xpeng as an industry trendsetter and leader in customer satisfaction.”
Deliveries of the G6 are scheduled to begin in China in July 2023.
