Under a newly announced partnership, Renault Group and Valeo will work collaboratively on the development of the electrical and electronic architecture for the OEM’s next-generation vehicles. Using a software-defined vehicle (SDV) architecture, Renault vehicles will be kept up to date over their service life, in addition to having new features and functionalities added without the need for physical hardware modifications to the vehicles.
Valeo will be responsible for providing key electrical and electronic components, including a high-performance computer (HPC) for use within the SDV architecture. The company’s engineers will also work with Renault’s Software Factory teams on software development at the Guyancourt, Toulouse and Sophia-Antipolis sites. Additionally, Valeo will deliver onboard application software, including parking assistance.
The duo aims to greatly reduce the development times and costs of electrical and electronic architecture while still delivering high performance, compatibility and safety for its customers.
